Teaching Artistic Statement

As a teacher I believe in solidifying a strong and solid technique within my students. I want to challenge and push past initial limitations they may be holding onto. Beginning with a warm up that initiates and strengthens technique, I move into active stretching and lots of core work. Exercises are then given to travel across the floor based off of what the students work on in the center of the room. The rest of the class is dedicated to choreographed phrase-work which enables the students to challenge how they approach movement along with their own personal self-expression. I want to give students a safe place to work without feeling pressure to achieve perfection. My class will first and foremost target self-growth in a nurturing environment. I encourage all students in a healthy way to push through boundaries to become stronger artists.

"For me, dance is a way to tap into release. It allows me to find balance while exploring a vast spectrum of dynamics and emotions. Tapping into these connections I believe will expand my skills as an all around stronger artist."

"I aspire to continue learning, discovering, creating, and performing."

"We have a chance to fall in love with spontaneity, to be our own teacher, to find unexpected possibilities, to invest in our future dancing."- Anonymous
